Many cities, like Singapore, face the challenge of limited space for dedicated cycling lanes. As a result, cyclists often share the road with other vehicles, leading to potential accidents and misunderstandings. Inspired by personal experiences while cycling in Singapore, Tay Meng Kiat Nicholas recognized the need for a solution that would help cyclists communicate their movements to motorists.
The strength of Reggal Originals lies in its unique properties. The system is designed to be highly visible from all angles, ensuring that motorists can easily identify a cyclist's intended direction. The signalling lights are integrated into a single system, seamlessly fitting into the bicycle without any protruding items. This integration not only enhances the aesthetics of the bicycle but also ensures a premium feel.
The front signalling lights are created using LED lights that sit neatly into the grooves of a metal ring on the handlebar grip. This design allows for clear visibility of the cyclist's intentions to motorists approaching from the front. To further enhance safety, the rear signalling lights are housed in the bicycle seat pole, along with the signalling chip and battery. This placement ensures that motorists behind the cyclist can easily see their intended direction.
The development of Reggal Originals was not without its challenges. One of the main hurdles was creating a signalling system that seamlessly integrated with the bicycle's shape and aerodynamics. Through extensive research and design iterations, Tay Meng Kiat Nicholas and his team overcame this obstacle, resulting in a sleek and functional solution.
Reggal Originals has received recognition for its innovative design. In 2013, it was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in the Idea and Conceptual Design category. This prestigious accolade is given to designs that demonstrate practicality, innovation, and adherence to professional and industrial requirements. Reggal Originals' integration of industry best practices and its contribution to a safer cycling experience have earned it this esteemed recognition.
With Reggal Originals, Tay Meng Kiat Nicholas has revolutionized the way cyclists communicate their intentions on the road. This innovative signalling system not only enhances safety but also promotes a harmonious coexistence between cyclists and motorists. As cities continue to prioritize sustainable transportation options, designs like Reggal Originals play a crucial role in creating a safer and more enjoyable cycling experience for all.
